Data Element Name: Plasma Event ID
Collected For: BM-03, BM-05,
Definition:The number assigned to designate whether the plasma transfusion was the first, second or third transfusion event that occurred during hospitalization.
Suggested Data Collection Question:What number was assigned to the plasma event selected for abstraction?
Occurs:1 - 3
Allowable Values:

1    First Plasma Event

2    Second Plasma Event

3    Third Plasma Event

Notes for Abstraction:
  • The abstractor assigns the event identification (ID) number for each plasma event being evaluated. Each allowable value is only used one time and is determined by the order in which it was administered.
  • Select the Plasma Event ID associated with the Transfusion Order for each plasma transfusion event.
  • Abstract up to three plasma transfusion events per patient.
  • Include plasma transfusions administered in the emergency room or observation unit.
