Allowable Values:

1    There was documentation of a platelet count or a platelet function test prior to the platelet transfusion event.

2    There was no documentation of pre-transfusion testing prior to the platelet transfusion event or unable to determine from medical record documentation.

Notes for Abstraction:
  • Review platelet test results that are associated with the Platelet Event ID selected for abstraction.
  • The result must be completed within 24 hours prior to the start of the platelet transfusion event selected for abstraction.
  • Platelet function tests could include:
    • viscoelastometry (Thromboelastography, Sonoclot), platelet works, or closure time on the PFA-100.
