1    Bleeding (due to critically decreased circulating platelet count or functionally abnormal platelets).

2    Prophylactic administration to patients with rapidly decreasing or low platelet counts (usually ≤ 10,000/ μL secondary to cancer, marrow aplasia or chemotherapy).

A None of the above or unable to determine from medical record documentation.

Notes for Abstraction:The clinical indication for the transfusion must be documented within 24 hours of the transfusion.
