Question: CSTK-02 Suspension Rationale

Hi! I understand that CSTK-02 is suspended. I have a hospital that is looking for some additional information as to why the measure was suspended. Was it due to changes in clinical guidelines? Difficult data collection? Any chance the measure will return as a CSTK requirement? Thank you!

Answer:

CSTK-02 was suspended for Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Centers (CSCs) only. The reason for the suspension is that certified CSC organizational performance is now being evaluated on outcome rather than process only. CSTK-10 replaced CSTK-02 for CSCs effective January 1, 2018.

CSTK-02 is a required measure for Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Centers (TSCs). Once TSC organizations demonstrate that they have a process in place for collecting 90 day mRS data, they will also be converted to the CSTK-10 outcome measure and CSTK-02 will no longer be required.
