Question: Should ICD-10 code I629 be included in the ASR-OP 2b?
Currently the ICD-10 code I629 ICH unspecified is not included in the ASR-OP 2b measure. Can you please explain the rationale for this decision and if there are plans to include this ICD-10 code in the measure in the future?
thank you so much.
Answer:
Table 8.2c is used for abstraction of CSTK-04 "Admitting Diagnosis" data element Only. Do not use this table for the STK-OP-1 measure.
Hemorrhagic stroke ICD-10-CM Principal Diagnosis Codes for STK-OP-1 case identification are listed in Appendix A, Table 8.2. ICD-10 I619 nontraumatic "intracerebral" hemorrhage, unspecified is included on Table 8.2 along with other non-traumatic intracerebral diagnosis codes.
ICD-10 I629 non-traumatic "intracranial" hemorrhage may include bleeds in the skull that do not involve cerebral tissue. This code is too general for inclusion and will not be added to Table 8.2.
Thank you for your inquiry.
