Question: Arrival time for transferred patients

For patients who are transferred for IA t-PA or MER, is the arrival time 1 the time of arrival to the originating hospital, or 2 the time of arrival to the destination hospital? Thank you))

Answer:

Select the time that the patient arrived at your hospital.

Notes for abstraction state: • If the patient was transferred from your hospital’s satellite/free-standing ED or from another hospital within your hospital’s system (as an inpatient or ED patient, and there is one medical record for the care provided at both facilities, use the arrival time at the first facility.)

This note is for CMS billing purposes (episode of care). CSTK is a certification only measure and not collected by CMS. For accuracy of CSTK measure calculations, use the time that the patient arrived at your hospital.
