Comprehensive Stroke Certification Measures The CSTK-01 algorithm has a data check for ICD-9 CM Principal or Other Procedure Codes (Table 8.1a or 8.1b. Questions: From a clinical perspective is it possible to have more than one procedure [e.g. reperfusion procedures(s AND thrombolytic therapy] given during the same encounter? If so, would the “Timing 1” calculation only be evaluating the earliest procedure?

Answer:

Correct. The reperfusion therapies, (IV t-PA, IA t-PA, and mechanical thrombectomymay be performed singularly or in multiple combinations during an episode of care. The CSTK-01 Timing 1 Computation uses the earliest time of any procedure detailed on Table 8.1a or 8.1b (done at the hospital in question and not a transferring hospital). For example, if all 3 procedures were performed during an episode, the earliest procedure time would be used for the calculation, e.g., "IV t-PA initiated at St. X at 1030 and IA t-PA given at St. X at 1330, deployment of a clot retrieval device at St X at 1410", use 1030.)
