Question: Psychiatic Care Setting -Patient Inclusion
Would a patient with substance use disorder in an inpatient psychiatric setting, without a psychiatric diagnosis be considered a yes or no for this question?
Answer:
The HBIPS measures apply to patients receiving treatment in a psychiatric care setting. If the patient is in a psychiatric care setting, then this medical record would be counted in the initial patient population. Once the case flows through the algorithm for HBIPS 1,4,5,6 & 7, the case would be excluded if they do not have a diagnosis on Table 10.1 in Appendix A. The case would still be abstracted for any restraint and seclusion events, since the patient was treated in a psychiatric care setting.
