Question: Multiple TICI reperfusion grades

How would I abstract a case where the provider documented 2 different TICI grades to represent treatment of a thrombus that impacted more than one branch of an artery? One branch remained occluded (TICI 0, while the other two were reperfused (TICI 3.

Thank you))

Answer:

Abstract the TICI that corresponds with the "Site of Primary Vessel Occlusion" (please refer to this data element definition). If unable to determine which TICI is associated with the primary vessel occlusion, then select '3' for Post-Treatment TICI Grade.

Thank you for raising this question. A clarifying note will be added to the definition for "Post-Treatment TICI Reperfusion Grade" with the next revision of CSTK specifications to address this type of patient scenario.
