Question: Data Element- Violence Risk to Self

For violence risk to self screened over the past 6 months, does the screen have to specify 6 months? What if the question is worded, have you ever felt life was not worth living, would that count?

Answer:

For violence risk screening, HBIPS-1 is looking at a minimum of 6 months history. If your screen looks at any past history of violence risk, this is acceptable. If the screen looks at a period less than 6 months, that would not be acceptable.
